Località a est di Bali con mare calmo e ritmi lenti. Offre spiagge tranquille per famiglie e poca folla. La vita notturna è minima e alcuni tratti del lungomare sentono il peso degli anni.

Tranquilla costa a nord, nota per delfini, cascate e fondali corallini. Più economica e lenta del sud, ha strade tortuose e clima più piovoso. Poca animazione serale dopo il tramonto.

Bali è sicura?

Bali è sicura; il pericolo principale sono gli incidenti stradali. I reati violenti sono rari, ma occhio a borseggi nella folla, alcol contraffatto e finti taxi. I soccorsi parlano un inglese di base. Porta sempre un documento e pianifica bene i tempi per il Nyepi: durante questo capodanno balinese l'intera isola, compreso l'aeroporto, si ferma per 24 ore.

Pericoli del traffico

A Bali le strade sono caotiche, con scarsa sicurezza e tantissimi scooter. Metti sempre il casco ed evita di guidare di notte o dopo aver bevuto; valuta un'auto con conducente se non hai dimestichezza con il traffico locale.

Alcol contraffatto

I distillati clandestini, come l'arak adulterato, hanno causato intossicazioni letali da metanolo. Bevi solo in locali fidati. Se una bevanda ha un sapore insolitamente chimico o troppo dolce, smetti subito di bere e segnalalo.

Restrizioni per il Nyepi

Per il Nyepi (capodanno balinese) l'isola si ferma per 24 ore: vietato uscire, luci spente, negozi e aeroporto chiusi. Anche i turisti devono restare nei propri hotel, sotto la sorveglianza delle pattuglie locali.

Fumo e sigarette elettroniche

Svapo e sigarette elettroniche sono illegali in tutta l'Indonesia e a rischio confisca. Il tabacco è diffuso, ma vietato nei luoghi pubblici al chiuso. Non comprare prodotti di dubbia provenienza da venditori sospetti.

Documenti sempre con te

Porta sempre con te il passaporto o una fotocopia. La polizia effettua controlli d'identità, specie in caso di incidenti; non esibirlo può costarti una multa salata. Lascia un'ulteriore copia a chi viaggia con te.

Galateo nei templi e usanze locali

Nei templi indossa il sarong fornito all'ingresso e vestiti con rispetto. Non calpestare le offerte sui marciapiedi (canang sari). Girare in costume lontano dalla spiaggia e l'ubriachezza molesta offendono la cultura locale.

Limiti di prelievo al bancomat

I bancomat limitano i prelievi a 2,5 o 3 milioni di IDR a operazione. Porta più carte e rifiuta la conversione dinamica. Per cambiare contanti rivolgiti solo a filiali bancarie o a sportelli autorizzati con il logo Peci.

Chiusure per festività religiose

Per Galungan, Kuningan e Nyepi molte attività chiudono o riducono l'orario; durante il Ramadan le zone a maggioranza musulmana rallentano al mattino. Pianifica trasporti e pasti in anticipo se viaggi in questi periodi festivi.

La maggior parte dei viaggiatori ottiene un visto all'arrivo di 30 giorni o l'ingresso senza visto a seconda della nazionalità, prorogabile una volta per altri 30 giorni. Il passaporto deve avere almeno sei mesi di validità residua dalla data di ingresso. Puoi anche richiedere il visto elettronico prima di partire.
