Los núcleos urbanos como Denpasar o Ubud se recorren bien a pie, aunque las aceras suelen ser irregulares. Ten mucho ojo con el tráfico; casi nunca hay pasos regulados.

Bus rápido limitado

Los autobuses Trans Sarbagita cubren solo ciertas rutas, como Denpasar hacia el parque GWK. El billete sencillo cuesta 4400 IDR, pero pasan muy poco; apenas resulta útil para hacer turismo.

Los mototaxis de Grab o Gojek son la alternativa más rápida para moverse: resultan baratísimos y ágiles para trayectos cortos, con tarifas cerradas en la propia aplicación.

Bali es un destino asequible si comes en puestos locales (warungs) y usas transporte popular, aunque la cuenta sube en enclaves turísticos (tiendas de recuerdos, centros comerciales y restaurantes de nivel). Paraíso surfero y hípster: cafeterías de diseño, clubes de playa y cotrabajo. Tráfico denso en vías principales. Menos masificado que Kuta pero en auge; a una hora del aeropuerto y atrae a jóvenes.

Pueblo costero del este de Bali con aguas en calma. Entorno sosegado, ideal para ir con niños por sus playas tranquilas. Poca vida nocturna y tramos de costa con instalaciones algo anticuadas.

Norte de Bali (Lovina)

Naturaleza, buceo

Remanso de paz en la costa norte, célebre por delfines, cascadas y fondos de coral. Ritmo pausado, precios menores que el sur, carreteras con curvas y más lluvia. Casi sin ocio tras anochecer.

¿Es seguro Bali?

Bali es segura y tranquila; el mayor riesgo son los accidentes de tráfico. El delito violento es testimonial, pero vigila tus pertenencias entre multitudes, desconfía del alcohol adulterado y evita timos como los taxis falsos. Emergencias atiende en inglés básico. Lleva siempre la documentación y recuerda que en Nyepi toda la isla, incluido el aeropuerto, se paraliza por completo 24 horas.

Peligros del tráfico

El tráfico en Bali es denso y apenas hay normas; las motos dominan el asfalto. Ponte siempre casco, no conduzcas de noche ni si has bebido, y contempla contratar un chófer privado si no te manejas con los hábitos de conducción locales.

Alcohol adulterado

El alcohol clandestino, como el arak adulterado, causa intoxicaciones letales por metanol. Pide copas solo en locales de confianza. Si una bebida sabe a químico o es sospechosamente dulce, deja de beber e infórmalo de inmediato.

Restricciones durante el Nyepi

El Año Nuevo balinés (Nyepi) impone 24 horas de apagón total. Se prohíbe salir a la calle, las luces deben apagarse, comercios y aeropuerto cierran, y los turistas deben quedarse en el hotel bajo la vigilancia de patrullas vecinales.

Vapeo y tabaco

Vapeadores y cigarrillos electrónicos son ilegales en Indonesia y los confiscan. El tabaco común es habitual, pero se prohíbe en espacios públicos cerrados señalizados. No compres productos de origen dudoso a vendedores no autorizados.

Conviene saber

Documentación a mano

Lleva siempre contigo el pasaporte o una copia en regla. La policía realiza controles de identidad, sobre todo en caso de percance vial; no mostrarla acarrea multas inmediatas. Conviene dejarle otra copia a quien viaje contigo.

Normas en templos y costumbres locales

Usa el sarong que dan a la entrada y viste con recato en los templos. No pises las ofrendas del suelo (canang sari). Estar ebrio en público o llevar bañador fuera de la playa se considera una falta de respeto grave.

Límites de extracción en cajeros

Los cajeros suelen limitar la retirada a 2,5-3 millones de IDR. Lleva varias tarjetas y rechaza siempre la conversión dinámica de divisa. Cambia dinero en oficinas bancarias o mostradores autorizados con el distintivo Peci.

Cierres por festividades religiosas

Los comercios reducen horarios o cierran en Galungan, Kuningan y Nyepi. El ritmo matinal también baja en zonas musulmanas durante el Ramadán. Conviene planificar con tiempo el transporte y las comidas en torno a estas celebraciones.

La mayoría de los viajeros puede entrar sin visado u obtener un visado a la llegada de 30 días según su nacionalidad, prorrogable una vez por otros 30 días. Tu pasaporte debe tener una validez mínima de seis meses a partir de la fecha de entrada. También puedes tramitar un visado electrónico antes del viaje.
