Free Things to Do in Madrid: Museum Free Hours, Parks and Views
Last updated: October 2026
Intro
Madrid has more free art than almost any capital, but every museum runs its own rules, and the rules change with the season. The Royal Palace's free window moves for the winter schedule and is only for EU and Latin American citizens or residents. The Reina Sofía free hours still need a ticket, reserved online at no cost. The Prado's free hours are sold at the ticket office, subject to capacity. Here is what costs nothing in Madrid, checked in October 2026.
For the wider trip, see the Madrid overview. And if you want one cheap extra, the Madrid Interactive Self-Guided Walking Tour is a self-guided walk in the Ciceru app, with a story and a quiz question at each of its 8 stops and a free 500 MB global eSIM, for €7.
